Ather Energy’s 2nd Manufacturing Plant Will Expand Production Capacity to 4 Lakh Units per Annum

Ather Energy has revealed that the brand has commissioned its 2nd manufacturing plant at Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The company has taken the decision thanks to the demand for the 450X and 450 Plus e-scooters. The company aims to manufacture around 4,00,000 units per annum. Ather Energy currently produces 1,20,000 units per annum via its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility which is also located in Hosur.

Sales and Manufacturing Achievements

In October 2021 Ather recorded the best growth in comparison to 2020. The brand also has the highest valued EV maker in India, with a revenue run rate of USD 100 million. The brand also announced that due to massive demand for its e-scooters the brad has had to implement certain changes.

The EV maker also offers a rapid experience centre scale-up and aims for a 6-time retail footprint. Ather is also expecting a boost in growth in the coming quarters. Also, the brand is currently operating at full capacity after opening its 1st facility 10 months ago. In the month of November 2020, Ather registered 20% month-on-month sales growth to gain strength in the two-wheeler EV space.

Also between, April-October 2021, Ather has recorded a 3X increase in walk-ins, web inquiries, and test rides. With a 4X growth in vehicle bookings, Ather has recorded a tremendous increase in consumer interest for both scooters. Ather’s latest 450X has become the most awarded e-scooter in India, according to leading Indian automotive publications.

Plans for the future 

Ather has catered to the demands of its customers across India with 90% localisation with its 450X and 450 Plus locally. This includes the battery pack being made in-house. Ather Energy has also planned to invest INR 650 crores over the next 5 years.
