Evolution of Women at the Workplace

8th March is celebrated as International Women’s Day. Breaking the age-old shackles of just taking care of households to taking over top positions at the workplace women have contributed a lot more to the new world.

A woman is a soul who has the power to carry another soul in her. That’s the charm of nature, they are fortunate to carry it forward. 

History has witnessed the bravery of both men and women working together and bringing a change in society. International Women’s Day is like any other day which reminds all the women to take bold actions and empower each other. 

As a woman, you should stress on self-love and self-care on this day and other 364 days of the year as well.  

Slow Strides witnessed during the 1950s to the Present 

Women’s employment history took a turnover from the First World War onwards. Women replaced the enlisted men and sharp productivity was also witnessed. Working in the dynamics to move forward, women are encouraged and legitimate when it comes to professionalism. Women took a turn from only working in the kitchen and managing the house to managing the decisions at the making of any new world. 

From the time of the stock market crash of 1929 to impeding laws to the Great Depression in the 1930s till the end of the war- women choose to stay to employment rather than limiting themselves to the household chores. 

Participation in the war front did not stop women from letting go of their household responsibilities, both the grounds are taken care of with expertise. That’s the power! The significant participation of women has triggered changes in social, cultural, and economic conditions from the mid-90s. 

Changes are slowly taking over. With time the typical monolithic thought process on gender biases has shifted towards an equal work culture. A change in attitude, legislation, social, economic, and political structures have reflected how strongly women are ruling at a professional and personal front.

Greater strides at the workplace are witnessed where women are given the power to make a decision and move forward with it. International Women’s Day is a reminder to all the lovely women to take a stand, respect each other, and make groundbreaking decisions to win over work and live at the same time. 

Having women at the workspace is not limited to financial gains there are many added benefits that a company experiences.

As per research and studies, hundreds of respondents estimate the number of women percentage on a higher side at the workplace. There are around 45% of the women working in the corporate areas across the globe. This has resulted in,

Women participating in any occasion or festival celebration at the workplace are more vibrant. The interesting part is men too find it more enjoyable working with women. The final result is that productivity at the workspace is on a higher side as compared to earlier times. 

#Women want a calling not limited to 9- 5 job schedules 

Women fit in well to any work profile. A strong woman is dedicated to their job and serves with their utmost devotion. Believing in the job will provide you with the opportunity to learn and grow on the professional front. Many women have personally made their way to become entrepreneurs in their preferred professions. Social scientists have termed it as a ‘calling of life’. From the domain limited to cooking as their only department to mastering the top executive positions, women have come a long way. 

Women are already Strong, the Perception of Society needs to be changed. 

Just like men striving hard for real-life opportunities women do share the same interest in promotions and leadership as well. They are equally working closely with men and making the attributes of achieving success in life more promising. 

There is no question of how strong a woman is! What matters is how society thinks it to be! That is changing with time. Earlier women struggled with qualifications and physical strength too. With time once the exploration of the corporate world drives in, women now know how to explore it. Studies stating that women are much more qualified than men when it comes to sharing the same position. The leadership opportunities for women come naturally as they are master homemakers too. Managing family, managing health and life everything is smoothly taken care of by women.  

The Push Factor 

Women broke the shackles of societal stigma and cherish themselves in every stand. Be it body shaming or underweight, a homemaker or a corporate professional, a woman is beautiful in every way. Coming out of the shell that few empowered women did earlier like Mother Teresa, Sister Nivedita, Florence Nightingale, Joan of Arc, and followed by many more have empowered others on the way. 

Today Women lead not only as a corporate professional but also in the political front as well. This has changed the perspective of the nation as a whole.

To conclude, Women bring on the table compassion, empathy, determination, and focus that makes the workplace united and work significantly. Women at organizations have excelled in their work timely.
