Honda has revealed the new Hornet concept motorcycle at the EICMA 2021 in Milan. The brand released an image of the Hornet concept that gives us a glimpse of what could be installed for the near future. We believe that Honda could be planning to resurrect the Hornet marquee in the international market by launch a new streetfight motorcycle in the middleweight segment. In the past, the Hornet has had quite a bit of fan following. It is also important to note, that the brand also retails the Hornet 2.0, in the Indian market. Currently, the concept study is just a design exercise. Expect the brand to soon uncover a working prototype followed by a production model.
Honda Hornet Concept – Design
The Honda Hornet Concept comes with features such as sharp lines and an aggressive stance. The bike features a muscular body with scalpel shaped headlamp and a sleek tail section. The motorcycle also gets aggressive tank extensions and a scooped-out seat. The motorcycle follows a high tail low nose design language giving it the aggressive looks.
Honda Hornet Concept – Powertrain
While Honda has not revealed the powertrain details on the Hornet concept. The image on the shows that the bike will come with an internal combustion engine. However, the silhouette of the engine does not reveal much. But speculation is that the brand could use a 500cc parallel-twin engine from the CB500. The Hornet could also come with an in-line four from the CB650R. In the past, the original Honda Hornet came with a 599cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine.
Honda Hornet – Launch Timeline
Honda could unveil the production-spec model of the Hornet by the end of 2022. The brand could also introduce an electric version of the Hornet to keep up with the future emission norms. Honda is also likely to launch the Hornet in India, thanks to the popularity of the middleweight segment.
